SONG OF THE DAY: The #1 song on the U.S. Pop charts on this day in 1978 was the Disco anthem "Stayin' Alive" by the Brothers Gibb (Robin, Maurice and Barry), AKA: THE BEE GEES!!! The song comes from the Soundtrack to film that helped to catapult JOHN TRAVOLTA into a pop culture icon.. The soundtrack LP not only was one of the best selling albums of 1978 but remained in BILLBOARD magazine's Top albums chart until March of 1980.. The song "Stayin' Alive" remained at #1 on the U.S. pop charts for 4 consecutive weeks..
